Fox News disappoints again
It isn’t as if I have a high opinion of Fox News to begin with, but when it comes to saving people’s lives you would think their producers could join the grown ups.
Flipping between different media coverage of the press conference on hurricane Gustav with Lousiana Gov. Piyush Jindal and Sec. of Homeland Security Chertoff, there was one outstanding difference between that of Fox, CNN and MSNBC. Fox was the only network not showing the sign language interpreter.
To the right above you can see CNN’s coverage. Below you can see the coverage of Fox News. The interpreter’s right arm could be seen moving, but that’s all. And that’s disgraceful.

Partisanship aside, Fox News has a responsibility to cover pertinent information to the American public, especially in an emergency. Why purposefully edit out the interpreter who could potentially help save lives? At the same time Gov. Jindal was urging those in his state to evacuate, Fox chose to center on the GOP governor, instead of focusing on BOTH people on stage communicating with the televised audience.
This is not nitpicking, it is another example of how Fox News just doesn’t get it, putting aesthetics ahead of vital information.
Even in an emergency, Fox News disappoints again.

A few short hours before the final speeches of the 2008 Democratic convention, I had the pleasure of discussing politics on the Blog Bunker Indie Talk radio program with host Joe Salzone. It was quite enjoyable, and my thanks to Joe Salzone for the discussion and Alexandra Ditrolio for setting it up.
We discussed Bill Clinton’s convention speech, race in the ‘08 election, John McCain’s veep options, John Kerry’s face, political theater, Keith Olbermann and the potential rift at MSNBC, and the Golden Girls (you read that correctly).
“Give B. Arthur her own show!”
Have a listen.
GOP proposed ‘bridge to nowhere’ may be a bridge to defeat for Palin, who lied about her support for it.

Some are questioning why the “C” and “E” were edited out of an image of Obama, spelling HANG instead.
“What is it exactly that the V.P. does every day?” asked the GOP VP candidate in July. Lord help us.

McCain chooses a VP perfect for Saturday Night Live mockery. Tina Fey won’t be out of work till Nov.
She refers to her husband as “First Dude,” and has five children, Bristol, Piper, Track, Willow, and Trig.

Forget the ‘Obama Temple‘ label. Is it just me, or did anyone else think Obama’s outdoor stage at the 2008 Democratic convention look remarkably like the U.S.S Enterprise?

Hm. O Captain my Captain!
