‘Recount’ Transforms HuffPost Into Ad Nightmare

Holy ads, Batman!

Waking up this morning and checking the HuffingtonPost for news was extremely uncomfortable.

Advertisements for the HBO movie ‘Recount’, about the 2000 presidential election recount, have smothered the front page, echoing the smothering of Kevin Spacey on every political news show he can find to promote it.

Don’t get me wrong, Arianna Huffington is a hero and I’m looking forward to the film as well, but the advertisements alone are enough to make me hold off for a while. Below is a screenshot with faded content:

Just like NPR during their annual fund-raising week, even after you’ve donated you still don’t listen until it’s over, as the channel is inundated with calls for your support. In the same vein, I think the HuffPost is going to have to go on the back burner until next week when the advertising *hopefully* tones down.

So hello Politico, greetings Slate, good morning Reuters, and well met FirstRead. It’s time to spend more time with some old friends.
