Inside Hillary Clinton’s Mouth
Hillary invites farmers to inspect her mouth
Reported by Beth Fouhy of AP, Sen. Hillary Clinton has offered up a new method of vetting presidential candidates.
While speaking in a livestock auction barn in Dunlap, Iowa, the top-tier Democrat compared to her presidential run to cattle at an auction.
“I’ve been to cattle barns before and sales before, in Arkansas, but I’ve never felt like I was the one that was being bid on,” Clinton told a crowd in western Iowa. “I know you’re going to inspect me. You can look inside my mouth if you want. I hope by the end of my time with you I can make the case for my candidacy and to ask you to consider caucusing for me.”
With less than three weeks before the Iowa caucuses and trailing Sen. Barack Obama in the polls, Clinton is making her final pitch after snagging a key endorsement from the influential Iowa newspaper The Des Moines Register.
The ‘Register’ endorsement noted that Obama inspired them, but Hillary give them confidence. Can that confidence usurp the ill feelings associated with the Clintons that cap her likability polls?
I admit I’m slightly nervous about Clinton in the general election as there are other clear winners out there, namely Joe Biden and John Edwards. Still, if the former first lady does crack the nominee ceiling the historic nature of the event could boost her prospects, and my, and many others’, confidence.
