Ron Paul Anti-Bush Since ‘88

Ron Paul has been opposed to both Bushes

Paul’s Consistency

We seem to be seeing more and more of Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul recently, even here on the Gauge. With an intense internet following it shouldn’t be surprising that online videos for and about the congressman would be numerous.

Damned Spot has released a video about Ron Paul videos that includes a 1988 clip from The Morton Downey Jr. Show, comparing the young congressman with Jimmy Stewart’s character from Mr. Smith Goes to Washington.

Voice over narration asserts “Like Mr. Smith, Paul shows he’s no flip-flopper. Then, as now, he’s anti-Bush.”

Paul has voiced opposition to Bush-41 and Bush-43 many times and in many ways. Here he is on the house floor discussing the president’s “demented philosophy of conquest”:

“Special interests and the demented philosophy of conquest have driven most wars throughout history. Rarely has the cause of liberty as it has in our own revolution been the driving force. In recent decades our policies have been driven by neo-conservative empire radicalism, profiteering in the military-industrial complex, misplaced do-good internationalism, merchantilistic notions regarding the need to control natural resources, and blind loyalty to governments in the Middle East.”

But just being anti-Bush isn’t enough. As mentioned in Best Ron Paul Video Yet:

“Out of a motley crew of dreadful Republican presidential candidates this election cycle, Paul is wisest and would be the least harmful to America.”

“While a Democrat is certainly needed to restore global confidence in America and help lead critical advancements in our society, a Democrat vs. Republican Ron Paul in the general election would be the least scary possible matchup. “

Damned Spot video of Paul bashing George H.W. Bush as Director of Central Intelligence:

“Then, as now, he’s anti-Bush.” We all should be.
