Karl Rove to resign end of August
Known as ‘Bush’s Brain’, Republican political adviser Karl Rove is set to resign as White House deputy chief of staff August 31, 2007 according to the Wall Street Journal.
Longtime adviser to President Bush, Rove states in his WSJ interview, “I just think it’s time. There’s always something that can keep you here, and as much as I’d like to be here, I’ve got to do this for the sake of my family.”
The consummate spin master, Rove also states that he believes Sen. Hillary Clinton will be the Democratic nominee for president, describing her as “a tough, tenacious, fatally flawed candidate.”
Rove has headed the White House Office of Strategic Initiatives, Office of Political Affairs, and the Office of Public Liaison.
A federal investigation began April 23, 2007 into the political wing of the White House. It is investigating whether White House aides or Karl Rove himself broke federal laws by making presentations to government employees encouraging them to seek out ways to support Republican candidates.
Though Rove states he is leaving for his family, be on the lookout in the next few months for a suspicious-looking, chubby-chinned political adviser, slipping in the well-trodden back door of a Republican presidential candidate’s headquarters.
Perhaps not. Either way, he’ll have more time to use his new iPhone (yes he has one).

Rove’s Swan Song - Protest against Karl Rove after a speech
Hopefully, as former president Ford put it, “the national nightmare is over”.

“Mr. Rove’s apparent attempts to manipulate elections and push out prosecutors citing bogus claims of voter fraud shows corruption of federal law enforcement for partisan political purposes, and the Senate Judiciary Committee will continue its investigation into this serious issue. … There is a cloud over this White House, and a gathering storm.” — Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., committee chairman.
